CALLOUT FOR A STAGE MANAGER

We’re on the lookout for a talented and multi faceted Stage Manager/Technical Stage Manager for our upcoming tour of Last Unicorn Airways, funded by ACE, National Lottery Community Fund and co-commissioned by ARC and Barnsley Civic.

 

Last Unicorn Airways will be touring to community and theatrical venues over 2025-26, operating on a non-continuous basis, meaning show dates will be contracted on a day rate. Please note that whilst this contract will be specifically for Last Unicorn Airways, we hope to develop an ongoing relationship with the successful candidate, leading to future work on our other projects.

 

Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Attending pre-production design meetings where appropriate

  • Acquiring props and materials for the set and interactive aspects of performances

  • Maintaining props and doing basic repairs where necessary

  • Attending rehearsals

  • Booking and driving the tour van Overseeing get-ins/get-outs on tour

  • Operating the show, which will include simple stage LX & Sound when in a theatre venue

  • Writing/Adapting Risk Assessments.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Experience of working in technical stage management in professional touring theatre

  • Driver's Licence, and experience driving a tour van

  • Knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation

  • Great organisational skills, adaptability and creative problem solving

  • Mending skills for fixes on props and costumes on tour

  • Experience and enthusiasm for accessible interactive/immersive theatre is desirable

  • Must be located in the north of England, preferably South Yorkshire

Location: South Yorkshire & UK

 

Tour Dates: Rehearsals from w/c May 5th 2025 in South Yorkshire for three weeks Performances from 24th May until Feb 2026

 

Fee: £2500 for three weeks rehearsal and 1 week of confirmed performances. £200 a day for pre-production days and further scheduled performances.
